If you’d like to help make Christmas a little brighter for one of our soldiers overseas, there is still plenty of time to participate in this year’s mailing! A list of purchase suggestions can be found by clicking on the soldier picture. Boxes are still available for pickup in the narthex or Parish Office. Once filled, boxes can be dropped off again at the Parish Office during office hours, or in the narthex before or after Mass. Feel free to include your Christmas wishes and letters, which may be a soldier’s favorite gift by far!
Deadline for returning filled boxes has been extended to:
December 4
(Please do not seal the boxes. Due to Covid, there will be no “packing night” this year.)
Have you ever thought about sharing your skill as a videographer with your parish? If so, we need you! St. Julie Parish is looking for a few more volunteers interested in assisting with our Mass livestreams. If you or someone you know is available to help us with this important ministry, please contact Barb at 708.429.6767 x231 or [email protected].
We would love to have you join us! Our gathering this month will include a Bible study, as well as a podcast discussion about friendship. It is tentatively set to take place in the St. Julie Billiart Youth Center, but if we’re unable to meet in person due to Covid, we will arrange a Zoom gathering. We’re flexible!
If you have any questions or are interested, please contact Becca at [email protected].
Fr. Tirso invites parishioners (as a family or a ministry) to construct their own Nativity Scene on a 8′ x 8′ area on the parish grounds, providing all their own materials and being responsible for setup and takedown. There will be a committee set up to judge each scene, based on creativity and expression of the meaning of the birth of Christ.
Details are still being worked out, but, if you’re interested in participating, following is some information:
- Preregister – Call or email to register your family or group. You’ll be given a location for the “build” on the parish grounds.
- Build Time – Nativity scenes may be constructed starting November 28 (Thanksgiving weekend) and should be completed by December 19.
- Judging – Sunday, December 20 after the 11:30am Mass. Nonmonetary prizes will be awarded.
- Viewing – Nativity scenes should remain on display on the grounds, but must be taken down by January 10.
Start brainstorming… look around the house, garage or basement for supplies… get creative!
For more details, email Fr. Tirso: [email protected]
Thank you for your interest in registering to attend the Thanksgiving Day Mass at St. Julie:
Please note that by registering for Mass, you are agreeing to the guidelines that have been set forth by the state and the Archdiocese of Chicago. If, for some reason, you do not feel you can adhere to these requirements, please instead join us on our Mass livestream. Our team of volunteers are offering their time to assist us in maintaining the safest possible worship environment. We appreciate your cooperation!
Reservations are required. The signup link will be included in a parishwide email and become active on this website on Monday, November 23. Or, if you do not have internet access, you can call Sheila/Deacon Ed at 708.429.6767 x232 to reserve your spot. (You will not receive a callback unless there is an issue.)
Safety Guidelines
These safety precautions should be observed at all times:
- If you are not feeling well, we ask that you stay home as a precaution.
- Masks are a must for everyone’s safety. They must be worn properly over the nose and mouth.
- Households may sit together but should be six feet from the next person. Households are defined as those who live together every day. Extended family and friends who do not live with you must safety distance (6 ft.) themselves from you while in our worship space.
- Pews that are marked by blue tape may be used.
- Please plan on arriving no sooner than 30 minutes and no later than the start of Mass; this will allow us time to ensure all preparation is completed. This will also allow our volunteers to fully participate in the Mass.
- If you have attended large gatherings in the last week where safety precautions have not been taken, we ask that you participate via the livestream on Facebook instead.
- For those who are not able to sign up via internet, please contact Sheila at 708.429.6767 x232. Leave your name, phone number and the Mass you would like to attend. We will only call back if there is an issue with your reservation.
We appreciate your help in keeping everyone safe and healthy. Our goal is to be able to continue celebrating Mass in person. Everyone working together will go a long way!
We Love Volunteers!
We cannot do without our wonderful volunteers and also don’t feel it’s right to ask the same people to serve at multiple masses each weekend. Can you help? ALL AGES ARE WELCOME!
If you would like to volunteer to assist the Reopen Team, please email Deacon Ed at [email protected] or [email protected]
God bless,
Deacon Ed and Sheila
Raffle sales have now ended.
Thank you to all who purchased tickets or helped with sales. Your generosity will help the many ministries of the parish. We truly appreciate your participation and look forward to drawing the winners on Thanksgiving!
The Thanksgiving Community Dinner will be a bit different at St. Julie Parish this year, due to the pandemic. We will provide meals on a carryout or delivery basis only, to make the event as safe as possible; we will not be serving meals onsite. How can you help in the effort?
- Food donations: Please sign up for the item of your choice, by clicking on the “SignUpGenius” button below:
- Monetary donations: If you are more comfortable donating money, please note on your check or envelope that it should go towards the Thanksgiving Dinner. It can be dropped in the Sunday collection or at the Parish Office.
We appreciate all donations, big or small. Everything is a gift – thank you!
We limited the number of volunteers needed, out of an abundance of caution, to maintain a safe environment, and the spots filled up quickly. At this time, therefore, we have enough volunteers. Our prayer is that next year, we will be able to open the doors wide once again!
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to call us at 708.429.6767 x232. Do you know someone who would love a Thanksgiving Meal? Please have them call 708.429.6767 x245.
- A photo of that person or group
- A short paragraph telling why he/she/they are a blessing
