Spirit Day 2017 was held Sunday, January 22 in the Devine Center. Spirit Day is a retreat offered to the Confirmandi by the youth in Youth Ministry. This one day retreat is faith filled with reflections, faith witness and fun filled games to help the Confirmandi understand and appreciate the Sacrament of Confirmation, specifically to be an example of their witness to the gospel.
Our Filipino community along with those in surrounding parishes celebrated the fifth night of the Simbang Gabi at St Julie. Our church was flowing with praise and celebration as their choir led all in song. The presentation of gifts by the children brought smiles to the entire congregation.
Simbáng Gabi (Filipino for “Night Mass”) is a devotional nine-day series of Masses practiced by Roman Catholics in anticipation of Christmas and to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. St Julie Parish is proud to be active in this community event.
“Dear young people, let yourselves be taken over by the light of Christ, and spread that light wherever you are.” – St. John Paul II
