Unfortunately, due to increasing Covid cases, the Procession to Honor the Saints originally scheduled to take place this Sunday, November 1 after the 11:30am Mass will be cancelled. Thank you for your understanding in keeping everyone safe.
Out of an abundance of caution and rising Covid numbers, the St. Julie Bonfire originally scheduled to take place this Saturday, October 24 after the 4:30pm Mass will be postponed. Thank you for your understanding in keeping everyone safe.
In this time of change and uncertainty, Pope Francis calls on us to be people of hope. Keeping that spirit of hope in our hearts, we happily anticipate the start of another year of Faith Formation. This year we are doing the hybrid learning using “Alive in Christ” material. The theme of this year is, “I received from the Lord, what I have also handed on to you” 1 Corinthians 11:23-29.
The parish will substitute monthly videos titled “Living Faith … Touching Hearts.” With joy and excitement, we ask God to bless a wonderful year filled with God’s love and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Our reopening dates are as follows:
September 30 – Eighth Grade
October 1 – Sixth and Seventh Grades
October 3 – First through fifth Grades
Due to COVID and the special planning necessary, the registration deadline is September 10. We are still in need of volunteer catechists to staff the program and if you feel called to serve the Lord as a catechist, please call our Faith Formation Office at 708.429.6767 x227.

Pope Francis says, “The Church needs you, your enthusiasm, your creativity and the joy that is so characteristic of you!” Well, St. Julie parish is forming a young adult group seeking to promote faith, fellowship, and spiritual growth with one another while glorifying the Lord in all we do. We meet once a month. Last month, Carl and Jenny shared their awesome story about the value of marriage and faithful relationships. The topic for this month is God’s Will in Our Lives.

To the Parents/Guardians of our Faith Formation students:
With the strains of the lingering pandemic, please know that you and your families continue to be remembered in our daily prayers.
Our Reopening Team has met to finalize a plan for this year of Faith Formation so we are now providing some general information for you below. To receive further information about the plan, we invite you to one of two parent meetings being held:
Tuesday, September 1, 2020
or Wednesday, September 2, 2020
at
7:00 p.m. in Church
In order to insure proper social distancing, we need you to pre-register for one of these meetings by August 27, 2020. Please click on the following link to register:
At this point we are providing a hybrid model, one in-person class and one remote class per month. The following is just the schedule for the FIRST in-person class of the year for each grade:
Grades 1-5: October 3, 2020 (see below for session times)
Grades 6&7: October 1, 2020 7:00pm – 8:30pm
Grade 8: September 30, 2020 7:00pm – 8:30pm
There will be a slight change in the Saturday session times due to the need for sanitizing the class spaces in between, as follows:
Session A: 8:30am – 10:00am
Session B: 11:00am – 12:30pm
Because of the pandemic, we will all need to be flexible and prepared for last minute changes, if the need develops. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Congratulations and Blessing to the confirmation class of 2020. Bishop Louis Tylka, Jr (Diocese of Peoria) celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation for the class of 2020 on Saturday, August 8, 2020. We continue to pray for the students, that they will open their minds and hearts to the gifts of the Holy Spirit throughout their lives.
“In the Roman Rite the bishop extends his hands over the whole group of the confirmands. Since the time of the apostles this gesture has signified the gift of the Spirit. The bishop invokes the outpouring of the Spirit in these words:
All-powerful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by water and the Holy Spirit
you freed your sons and daughters from sin
and gave them new life.
Send your Holy Spirit upon them
to be their helper and guide.
Give them the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of right judgment and courage,
the spirit of knowledge and reverence.
Fill them with the spirit of wonder and awe in your presence.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.” ccc 1299
