The Young at Heart group had their monthly meeting with May Crowning, a wonderful luncheon and entertainment with Paul Strolia. Special thanks to Tony Berardi, music director from Saint Damian parish and Saint Julie cantors, Bob and Sue Rheinheimer. Thanks to the team of Sarah Mittler and Joanne Tuzik for their tireless efforts.
We live in a world where there are voices shouting at us from all sides, trying to tell us who we are and who we aren’t, who we should be and who we shouldn’t be. If we pay too much attention to these voices, it won’t be long before we forget our true identity altogether.
But amidst all the noise is our loving Father, who wants to make Himself known to us and speak truth about who we are. God’s love is deeper and His plan for our lives is greater than anything the world has to offer – will we allow Him to reveal it to us?
This summer, over 50,000 Catholic teens across North America will participate in 25 Steubenville Youth Conferences, and we want you to be one of them! Come experience the love of God in a new and more profound way. He has so much in store for you.
Did you know that we have a group of dedicated men and women who pray the Rosary every Monday at Autumn Leaves Memory Care Facility located within our parish boundaries? The residents who suffer from dementia and Alzheimer’s created these lovely bead rosaries for them. Our very own Fr Bob blessed them before handing them to the volunteers.
We are now forming a group to pray with our newest parishioners at Heartis Village located directly across the street from our campus.
Might you be willing to spend one hour with those suffering from these debilitating diseases? If interested, please contact Mike at 708.429.6767 X212
At the Easter Vigil, Saint Julie Billiart Parish welcomed three new members to our parish family. Welcome, Matt, Tammy and Brianna!
There have always been young people whom God calls to service. In ancient times, young Samuel actually lived with the priest, Eli. One night, God called Samuel but Samuel thought it was Eli. When he ran to him, Eli realized it was God calling Samuel and so he told Samuel, “If God calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’”
For families who want to honor God through service at the Altar, the Ministry of Altar Servers offers them that opportunity. Education about service at the altar and specific training for this ministry will be provided.
If you would like to volunteer, please contact our Liturgy Coordinator, Margie Guadagno at 708-429-6767 ext 228, or by e-mail, [email protected]

Ritual of Burning Palms
Tuesday
February 13, 2017
Following the 8:00am Morning Mass
Traditionally, the ashes for the Ash Wednesday service come from burning the palm fronds from the previous year’s Palm Sunday celebration.
Ashes are a biblical symbol of mourning and penance when the custom was to fast, wear sackcloth, sit in dust and ashes and put dust and ashes on one’s head.
Blessed ashes have been used in God’s rituals since the time of Moses.
They also symbolize death and so remind us of our mortality. Thus when the minister uses their thumb to sign one of the faithful with the ashes, they may say,
“Remember you are dust and to dust you shall return.”
On sale in the Parish Office. Great gifts for only $20 and you support Saint Julie Billiart.
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.

St. Julie Billiart Parish,
On behalf of Task Force ODIN, I wanted to let you know that we’ve received tremendous support from your team in the form of care packages for Christmas!! We feel truly blessed here and we are very appreciative of all of your efforts to bring Christmas to our deployed soldiers. Your efforts have made an impact on each and every one of our team members, Military and Civilian, and it has brought a touch of home to them during this holiday season. The letters and decorations were very much enjoyed as well. We can’t thank you all enough!
I will follow up with some pictures of the team in the very near future!!
