The first meeting of Irishmen on American soil to honor St. Patrick took place in Boston on March 17th, 1737. The first St. Patrick’s Day parade was held in New York in 1762. Curiously enough, before marching caught on, St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated with huge breakfasts, held around 2pm in local taverns.

Wednesday, December 19, Saint Julie hosted the fifth evening of Simbang Gabi, a Filipino tradition of a celebratory nine days of Masses and feasts . The beauty and pageantry of this Filipino custom is quite a sight as the children prepare for the arrival of the infant Jesus. There is festive music and traditional garments. It is a beautiful celebration to await the birth of our Savior and King!
It is always a memorable event as Saint Julie Billiart hosted for the 26th year the Simbang Gabi Filipino Christmas novena. The feast that followed was a sight to hehold!
Christmas Blessings!
In honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, our annual pet blessing took place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 in the Mary Garden. Several parishioners brought their pets as Deacon Jay blessed them and presented each with a medal for their collar.
